Photoshop Actions Preset - Simple Vignette

This is an easy way to direct your viewer’s eye. By adding a controllable vignette, you can help soften distracting background elements and focus attention on your subject. This action requires that you select the area in your image you want the vignette to be placed around. I use the Lasso tool (L) and make a rough selection around the subject, then apply the action. The beauty is that it will work for any selection meaning you can alter what the vignette will look like on an image by image basis allowing you to tailor fit it to each image. I also tend to adjust the opacity of the vignetted layer to suit the final version. I talk more about it on my blog here:

Any chance we can get this for aperture? I love the subtleness of this. Some of the vintage ones I have are a little too intense. This is incredible.

Hi Wbryen!

Unfortunately it isn’t directly repeatable in either Aperture or LR. You can introduce a vignette in Aperture though. Go to “PHOTOS” > “ADD ADJUSTMENT” and at the bottom of that drop down menu, you can add a Vignette. You can’t manipulate the shape other than the size of the vignette uniformly (more or less vignette from the corners), but you can add a vignette. :)

Thanks again,

Hello. I see that you don’t update your blog too often. I
know that writing content is boring and time consuming.
But did you know that there is a tool that allows you
to create new posts using existing content (from article directories or other websites from your niche)?
And it does it very well. The new articles are high quality and pass the copyscape test.
You should try miftolo’s tools
